The story takes place during the 1990's-2000's in the United States, in Washington.
Three college aged guys get a mysterious IM from someone on the shock site graves-decay,asking for them to download a desktop helper as a beta test. The program is legit, and isn't considered a virus and functions properly, though doesn't quite like the people who's computers he's on.
Warning: This story focuses on gore and shock sites, and has lots of violence within.
