Divorce Laywers I Shaved my Head- Jordaan Mason and the Horse Museum

Genre: Folk

9/10

This album came into my radar a good number of years ago- when I was realizing I was a flavor of trans, and it helped me quite a lot. It's a gutwrenching album, leaving me feeling horrible afterwards.

favorite tracks Racehorse: Get Married!, Wild Dogs: Divorce!

Racehorse: Get Married! was the first song I found on this album, it being recommended to me by youtube. It's the longest song on this album, and uses all of it's time to the fullest. All of these songs revolve around a relationship of two trans people (at least with my interpretation), and Racehorse is a perfect representation of that. A song full of emotions and sadness, and a lovely listen when you feel absolutely horrible about yourself. (it will not make it better but at least you'll be listening to something good)

Wild Dogs: Divorce! is arguably, a better song than Racehorse. It shows the ending of this 'marriage', using lots of metaphors and truly digging deep into your heart as you listen with claws. After the 'fight' in the song, the mellowed tones and slower singing really puts the vision of what's really happening quite well.

least favorite tracks none!

It's a bit tricky to explain. I don't hate any of the songs within this album, and since the entire album focuses on a story between people, it would feel weird to take one song from this album and say it's the worst. There are some that are weaker than others, though they all play a part in this story.

This album did more for my journey as a trans person than anything else did, to be honest. It's a raw look at the trans experience, and the songs hit home far more than I thought they would. With the raw vocals and multiple voices used, alongside the acoustic instruments, it feels at home in my playlists. It touches on many feelings I've felt while on my journey that I really haven't been able to put into words. Most of these songs make me feel an incredibly deep sadness within, and it hurts whenever I listen to them. Great songs though
