Conversation Piece- A Lot Like Birds

Genre: Post Hardcore / Progressive

9/10

I cannot put into words how powerful and full of emotion this album is. It's obvious they were singing and performing from the heart, especially with songs about abuse, trauma, and heartbreak, this album really hits home. It's an album you absolutely have to listen to in order, and the songs towards the end hit the hardest with their lyrics.

favorite tracks The Blowtorch is Applied to the Sugar, Tantrum (Far From the Tree, the Apple Grew Rotten)

The Blowtorch is Applied to the Sugar Really really hurts. The first time I listened to this song I started getting goosebumps as the singer started screaming his heart out as he sang the last few lines. The song is about losing love and realizing that you've never actually healed. It hits home incredibly hard, and I cannot listen to this song without feeling bad afterwards.

Tantrum (Far From the Tree, the Apple Grew Rotten) is the second to final song on the album, and the longest at that. With a runtime of 7:16, it gives time for the lyrics to really set in. This one focuses on a lot of family issues, really hitting it home with it's long runtime.

least favorite tracks Orange Time Machine Cares

Orange Time Machine Cares isn't a bad song at all, though it tends to be my least played on the album. I do quite enjoy it, but I feel like it's a weak opening for the album to come, especially compared to the final few songs.

I really, really love this album. It's such a powerful piece and I relate to many of the songs on the album. I would give it a 10/10 if I could, though some of the songs fall a bit too flat to give it that score. Genuinely this album changed me (while I know that saying is incredibly cliche at this point), and changed my view on music as a whole. The progression of the songs throughout the album gets more and more raw and 'messy' for lack of a better term. As the album continues, the sound and lyrics become far more loud and jittery, showing the slow decent throughout. A wonderful album that makes me feel horrendous afterwards. Best listened to in a dark room with loud earbuds
