Profile

Rurik is a heavy set man, with an average height. He has broad shoulders and a heavy build. He has a pale complexion with freckles spattered all across his body. He has numerous scars troughout his body, and a branded sun symbol on his chest. This symbol was cut through by accident, leading to another scar being settled in. He has heavy eyebags, and his teeth are sharp, though pretty yellowed. He has messy facial hair, with his entire body being covered in heavy body hair. He has dark red-brown hair, with it being rather messy most of the time.

His demon form is nearly identical to his regular form, though he has a long, prehensile tail. His ears shift to dog-like ears, and his hands and feet become furred, with claws growing out. His eyes slightly shift in this form, with his eyes being able to work like a cats. The fur is a dark grey in color, with near black markings on his toes and fingers. This form only comes out during high stress and high emotions.

He wears very boring clothes mostly. Usually wears a sweater and a jacket, with dark pants and boots. His regular wear could be described as scrub, but there isn't really much he could do about that. His regular outfit is a dark red duster, and underneath is a dark green turtleneck. Black jeans and darker jeans are his go-to, and wears only jungle and desert boots. During summer months, he wears mostly tank tops and t shirts, with the occassional buttondown. He wears only cargo shorts, though. Usually seen with slides or flat soled sneakers.

He had a specific outfit for the time that he was in the sect, mostly due to a 'dress code' Cecil forced on him. The sect outfit consists of a light tan button down with the sects logo above the left breast pocket. He was given a grey t shirt underneath, and the same pants and boots as he came in with. A muzzle is usually seen on this outfit, given the sect's rules, though the muzzle can go with any outfit. For fun.

Personality

Rurik is incredibly abrasive. He is hard to talk to, and hard to get close to. In all honesty, he usually doesn't want to get close to anyone. He's rather blunt, and quick to anger. He has a high temper, and doesn't take anything from anyone, and has no tolerance for most things. He can put up a facade to seem nicer than he truly is, though it falls by the end of the night. (it falls faster if he was already pissed off.) Besides all this, he is incredibly loyal to people he cares about (though, the number is quite small.), though even then the people he likes can get annoyed due to his stubbornness. He isn't dumb, though isn't the brightest. He regularly makes stupid decisions without thinking of the consequences, which has gotten him into a number of situations where he'd rather be anywhere else. (For example, the way he got to the sect was probably the dumbest decision he's done.)

He is rather controlling, especially with people he's close to. He hasn't had many romantic partners in his history, though accounts say that he wasn't the best partner, and was far too focused on the sexual aspect of the relationships rather than the emotional ones. he's the type to not want to show any emotion towards others, and is rather reserved in the emotions needed for a good relationship. He has trouble identifying emotions and expressing them correctly, especially in high stress situations, and leans towards anger more than any other emotion. The Demon blood that was infused with his made these problems worse, and he became far more agressive, abrasive, and violent after the ritual. As the years pass, the demon blood hit a good equilibrium, and these problems have waned slightly, though still pop up from time to time.

Lore

He was born in Dreywood, and had a rather rough upbringing throughout his childhood. His father was out of the picture for most of his life, which lead to a number of issues with his development growing up. His family wasn't rich either, and both him and his mother had to start working jobs at a fairly young age to keep afloat. He had a few friends growing up, and he always tended to be the 'leader' of his groups. He was a violent child growing up as well, regularly messing with other kids and animals throughout the years. He worked nearly constantly through his teenage years, but usually was unable to hold down a job for long, which lead him to the more seedy underbelly of the city, at the behest of his mother. His mother died soon after he hit his 20's, leaving him alone to fend for himself in any way he could.

He quit his day job and started working for the seedy underbelly, and was able to make a good chunk of cash to keep him afloat. This worked for a few years, with him working as an interrogator of sorts for the group he was working for. Though, he wasn't known for his following of rules, and was eventually kicked out, and once again looking for a job. This lead to him finding a small ad in the paper for some physical labor needed for a campground. He wasn't one to do this type of work, but he needed the cash. He called the company from a payphone who offered to drive him to the site since he didn't have a car at that point. The company offered to pick him up that night, which was a bit odd, but the earlier he could start working the better, and he went to the spot where the voice over the phone told him to go, and he was kidnapped and placed in the van. The next thing he knew was that he was at the 'campground' of sorts, with his hands tied behind his back.

In reality, he was kidnapped by Cecil's followers to use him for the demon chimera experiment. Rurik was kept in a quiet room for a night or so after he was kidnapped, just so that he could wake up on his own accord. He was briefly spoken to by Cecil, giving him a rundown as to what was going to happen to him. Rurik was obviously freaking out, but couldn't do much due to the restraints he was put in. He was given a meal the night before the ritual, but it was given as a simple meal, nothing more, nothing less.) The meal was laced, and after he ate it, he got knocked out, and was transported to the building that the ritual took place for many other failed experiments. Before the ritual went down, he woke up from the drugs, only to see the pile of previously experimented on subjects who didn't survive through it. The ritual is a fairly complex one, and tends to be looked down upon due to ethics reasons. For this specific ritual, Cecil was trying to create a demon/human chimera, in which the human would be injected with enough demon blood to mix into their own, but due to the compounds of demon blood, it is highly corrosive and can kill someone if given too much. During the past rituals, Cecil changed the level of demon blood up or down depending on the person in the ritual, though Rurik's was the first where he survived past it. The demon blood corroded the previous people from the inside out to the point that they died right then and there on the table where they lay. Due to Cecil's refusal to let them go, Rurik caught a glimpse of the pile of bodies left behind from the not so lucky people before him.

After the ritual, his aggression got worse, mostly due to the pain he was in for a week or two after the ritual. Cecil would check in on him from time to time to see how the demon blood was effecting him. His appeareance changed greatly after the ritual, with changing his teeth and general demeanor, alongside how his brain functions (up to a point.) Cecil checked in on him one day shortly after the initial ritual, though Cecil already tended to look down upon him for a number of reasons. Rurik lunged at him, and managed to bite off one of his fingers in the process. After this, Cecil forced him to wear a muzzle whenever he was on the grounds (which meant all the time). It was usually a bit too tight and hurt his jaw after a while of wearing it. Cecil never forgave him for biting his finger off, but he was eventually "hired" to do guard work for the sect, in which he wandered nearly every night around the border of the campground. He wasn't allowed to do most things on the campground like the other followers, and was left alone unless he was needed by Cecil.

Once he was 'settled' in, Cecil made Finnegan give Rurik a short tour around the campground, and the two men's friendship started from there. The two of them bonded over the fact that, in all honesty, neither of them wanted to be there at all. Finn also gave him insight as to what the sect was truly doing, and the two of them stuck together well during the sect's lifetime. The rest of the sect hated Rurik, given the fact that, even while Cecil gave praise for the fact that he survived, he frequently told the sect that he was a dangerous, malicious being, and would attack any of them at any moment. With all of these falsehoods that Cecil spread to the other followers, nearly all of them stayed far away from him, believing everything Cecil said. Finn didn't believe him, though, given his history with the man, and was the only friend he made. Finn gave him part of his area (as in his small cabin away from the sect) to chill in whenever needed, and their friendship blossomed.

About 2 years after Rurik 'joined' the sect, Finn spoke to him about leaving and ways to get rid of the sect once and for all. Finn already had an idea for the escape already, since he tended to try and run away a good number of times during his youth. Finn knew of the eclipse that was happening, and worked with Rurik to get it all done, but during the final day of the sect, the plan went awry. Finn lost control as Cecil corraled all the other sect members into the church, Rurik jumped at Cecil, in which he gravely injured him by biting him on the neck. Their plan fell through and Finn managed to burn down nearly the entire sect, and Rurik lost Finn in the flames.

After the sect, he was able to catch a train down to the major city closest to the sect, and live out a life there. He lives a small, quaint life in a small apartment in the city. It's not a good life, though. He has difficulty getting food (and not getting caught doing so.) Curiously, he promised Finn that he wouldn't eat human meat, just due to the cost of it (mostly due to killing innocent people), but seemingly went back on that promise with him. He figured that since he most likely wouldnt see him ever again. He fell back to his old ways and removed any growth he had previously due to a number of reasons.

After a few months of staying in his very small apartment, members of the Crimson Creed figured out where he lived, and offered for him to join. Since he had connections to Cecil, the Creed needed as much information they could get regarding it, and Rurik would be a great help. (plus, they'd like to know about the chimera status, since he technically shouldn't exist. But alas). He moved into the creed shortly after.

Trivia

  Due to the ritual, he was cursed with insatiable hunger, and because of it, he learned that he can only eat meat to actually sate the hunger for a little bit, specifically human meat. Don't worry about it

  Due to the demon/human blood mixing, he is generally stronger and faster than the average human. He can lift and fight much harder and faster. He can see in the dark, and smell much better. His teeth changed entirely and got larger and sharper, and his body structure changed a little bit as well.

  Big sleeper. He usually sleeps at least 12 hours at a minimum, and sleeps up to 3 days straight after eating quite a lot (ie after eating a whole body). Even with all of this extra rest, he never looks well rested in the slightest.

  No other food besides meat gives him any nutritional value. No one is really sure why the ritual caused this, but he kind of found out the hard way. During the time in the sect, Cecil didn't quite get that, and fed him regular food, which lead him to not eating enough throughout his stay in the sect

Abuser

He has absolutely nothing besides anger for Cecil. He kidnapped Rurik from his home, only to experiment on him and make him what he is today. Throughout his stay in the sect, Cecil would regularly put him into a very tight muzzle, which restricted jaw movement, alongside making him do nightly 'security' patrols around the sect grounds. He was regularly refused food and basic necessities, alongside being completely alienated from the sect, due to Cecil telling the rest of them that he was a 'dangerous creature', with the evidence being his missing fingers on Cecil's hand. During the fall of the sect, Rurik attacked Cecil, biting into his neck, leading him to bleed out in the church.

Finnegan Mac Haren

Friend

Finnegan was the only one who didn't see Rurik as a violent beast within the sect. The two of them spoke often, with the two of them using the small cabin Finnegan's father built for him as a small hideout. The two of them only had eachother within the sect, and they went seprate ways after the fall of the sect. Rurik went west towards Virmen, and Finnegan went east, though not on purpose. He hopes Finnegan is still alive.

Mikhil Cain

Enemy

Rurik sees him as nothing but a follower who can't make decisions for himself. He held out hope that he'd be fairly kind to him given the fact that both of them are chimera, but he followed anything Cecil told him to do, which led to both of them not liking each other for different reasons. Along with Finnegan, he watched him die when the sect fell.

Sebastian Haren

Distrustful

He knew of Sebastian before he met him, mostly through Finnegan, though it tended to be rather negative. Sebastian was nice during his initial pickup after he left the sect, though he forced Rurik into (another) muzzle and handcuffs for the ride in. He's not too fond of most of the Crimson Creed, but it's a nicer house.
