Profile
Appearance
Clay is a shorter, scrawny man standing at about 5'6 if he stands up straight. He's quite pale, and has very fluffy brown/near black hair that he usually keeps quite messy. His entire body is spattered in freckles, and he has a few assorted scars across his body. He is quite thin, though has a very small stomach pouch.
His wolf form is also fairly scrawny, with him regularly staying on four legs rather than two whenever he's shifted. His wolf form is dark brown in color, with darker patches along his face, around his neck, paws, and the end of his tail. His stomach is a lighter grey color. The fur is insanely thick and fluffy, and his general stature is topheavy, much like a good number of other werewolves. He is quite lanky in this form.
Clay regularly wears very neutral tones, sticking within browns and dark greens for most of his wardrobe. He usually wears very heavy material, such as wool, and regularly wears a heavy winter jacket with a puffy wool neckline. During warmer months, he still sticks to the same colors, but is usually seen with basic t shirts and basketball shorts.
Personality
Clay is an incredibly nervous person overall, constantly overthinking and making sure that everythings in order before doing anything. He grew up incredibly shy, and was bullied fairly often by other kids in school, but eventually got a bit better as he reached adulthood. He takes a while to open up to people, though when he does, he tends to stick by them for a long time. He tends to be a bit more impulsive than others, to his own worry. He was totally normal after finding out he was a changeling btw. Really normal and totally didn't change how he saw the world.
Likes: Nighttime, camping, hunting, generally anything outdoors, music videos
Dislikes: Hot Sunny days, tourists, Caves
Lore
Even though Clay never learned of this fact until he was quite older, he was a changeling due to his father's "deal" with a demon who he knew well. Warren, his father, gave the demon the real child in return for a changeling, and as a payment for the demon's help thoughout Warren's life. Warren kept this fact secret from Clay for a number of reasons, though the reason that his father moved far up north to raise Clay was due to an incident within the family, but even to this day Warren hasn't given Clay the real answer as to what happened. He does eventually learn but that's in the future.
He was originally born in Slate, where the rest of his family lived during the time, though his father moved up north for a "buisness opportunity" and brought Clay along. His mother stayed behind with the rest of the family, which made Warren raise a child all by himself, which wasn't too hard with his income. After the two of them moved up to Desperation Pass, Warren met the only other werewolf family in the town, interestingly a few doors down the road, and they became close friends. Clay and Beau grew up like siblings, and they regularly hung out at eachother's houses throughout their childhood. Neither of them had many friends outside of eachother, though.
The two of them would wander the woods around the town very regularly, with not much else to do in this small of a town during childhood, though neither of them were allowed to be in the woods after sundown due to Clay's father's orders (most likely due to his father knowing who laid within.)
He had a fairly normal childhood for the most part, though was sometimes visited by a 'spirit' as he says. He isn't usually one to believe in supernatural occurences, but throughout his childhood a visage would visit him during some nights. It was visually simular to the white wolf legend that the rest of the town and himself grew up around, though he still doesn't believe they could be the same being. He told his father these stories growing up, but his father didn't believe him.
During Luka's 21st birthday, both Beau and himself set him off on the tradition of the town, though Luka never actually returned. This caused Clay to panic, alongside Beau, and start the search for Luka. During their search, they found drag marks that led to deeper into the woods, though they passed the wash, and ended at a tree, with no indication of movement past it. The two of them were really the only ones trying to find Luka, and both of their fathers seemingly couldn't care less. He saw the newcomer in town, Buck, and was very curious about him. He seemed like he could have been moonblind to Clay, though he never actually saw any moonblind people during his time, and brushed it aside. He was curious enough to see if he shifted on the full moon, and did, in fact, figure it out. During the full moon, Clay came across Buck, who was already shifted, pacing around and having a very rough transformation experience. He stayed hidden for a while, before poking out from his hiding spot to say hello to him, and at this, Buck lunged at him and they fell into a scuffle. Beau, who was with Clay at the time, threw Buck off of Clay, and Buck darted. The two of them followed Buck, mostly to get answers, but to also ask what was (actually) going on. This lead to Buck admitting to what he did, and Beau shoving him into the cave system below them.
With Beau's injuries to his foot, Clay and Warren helped him home and did some emergency first aid to his foot, to help him last until the doctor arrived, which would be the day after. After Beau's foot was amputated, the two of them left town for good, heading south. Before heading south, he was called to the woods by a mysterious letter left on his bedside table. He thought nothing of the letter. Beau was asked to come along as well, and Clay figured that it was someone he knew and wasn't too worried. It took a while for the two of them to go deep enough into the woods for the meeting, especially with Beau still trying to move along with his crutches after his foot was amputated. They entered the clearing, and waited for whoever was going to meet them.
Trivia
How is he a hereditary werewolf /and/ a changeling? That's for me to know. It's a secret.
He is unaware where the 'original' form of him is, but he knows they exist.
Quite good with identifying plants.
He is basically completely unaware about his families history outside of what his father told him. This changes later in his story.
