Profile

Appearance

Buck is a fairly scrawny man, standing at about 5'11/6 feet (depending on who's asking). He has light blonde hair that grows darker as it gets longer, with the tips of his hair being far darker than the roots. He has a large scar going from his forehead to mid cheek on his right eye due to an attack by a werewolf. Due to this, his right eye is basically blind, with the grey iris expanding, with the pupil being missing. He has patchy facial hair, and regularly keeps his hair messy. He has a split eyebrow due to a previous scar, and that carries over to his wolf form. His eyes are a deep grey color.

His wolf form is scrawny, with a fluffy neck. He tends to walk upright rather than on all fours, and his wolf form is weaker than most. He packs a powerful bite when his claws fail on him. His pelt is a very light brown, with darker streaks on his head, feet, and tip of tail. He has a diamond like marking on his chest in the darker brown. His eyes are a deep green in this form.

Buck rarely wears anything revealing, and tends to stick to heavy clothes, especially during the colder months. He wears mainly work pants (such as canvas ones), alongside heavy boots. He is rarely seen without his brown coat with wool inside during the colder months. He never puts his hair up, and part of his hair always covers his right eye, especially during the day. During the warmer months, he'll shed his layers to wear mainly t-shirts and shorts.

Personality

Buck is rather quiet when you first meet him. He tends to keep to himself most of the time, outside of getting rides or asking about legends. He carries around a thick book in his sachel wherever he goes, and is regularly seen reading it in public. Though, even with his quiet tendencies, he is quite the impulsive type, and his impulsivity got worse after he was bit. He became far more aggressive as well, and is quick to anger, though really tries not to show it.

Likes: Chilly weather, hearty meals, darkness, dusk/dawn

Dislikes: Most werewolves, hot + humid weather, animals, pets

Lore

Growing up in a small town in the suburbs of Slate, his family was rocky. His parents did little to help him through his school years, but his older brother tended to look out for him. He did well in school, and tended to have a good group of friends to rely on. After high school, he decided to take time to go out to Slate, the major western city of the country, and try to find a job, or better yet, find some way to get into college. During this trip, he managed to get to a darker side of town, and was cornered.

During this, massive wolves managed to corner him, seemingly making a joke out of his predicament. During this, the wolves mocked and laughed at Buck, which caused him to lash out, and manage to land a hit with his hunting knife in one of the faces of the wolves, which set off a chain reaction that would change his life entirely. The largest wolf swatted at him at first, managing to hit his eye, and went in for a bite. It wasn't a hard bite, since the wolves tend to not kill people, and they all ran afterwards, howling into the night. He went to the hospital afterwards, and got his injuries patched up to the best of their abilities, and went home early from his trip out of his house.

His moonblindness came quite slowly. His behavior changed over time, and wasn't immediate, but the physical changes happened nearly immediately. Days after being bit, his eyes started to lighten, and were noticable to anyone he knew. After his attack, he spent lots of time looking into his symptoms, and eventually ended up in an odd book store, reading up on werewolves and other supernatural phenomenon. He learned of moonblindness, and bought the book to take home and do more research. He didn't believe in any sort of things like this, and it was a shock to him, to say the least. Throughout his research, his behavior got worse and worse, and he finally decided to leave his family behind, to keep them safe, and more importantly keep himself safe. His older broher had already moved out and went on with his life, but he still felt a pang of regret leaving his family and friends behind, but he was insanely paranoid as to what he'd do to himself or others, and felt like the only way to go about it was to isolate himself.

The months after him leaving weren't the best, to say the least. He had to jump from couch to couch, leaving nothing behind as he moved onto another place to live. He ate terribly, and tended to wander for most of his days. During this time, he spent a long time in libraries, and learned about the numerous amount of urban legends in the country, and decided that it would be good for him to search after these legends, and put his life to use, instead of wandering aimlessly until he eventually died. He first east, following some small rumors in small towns in that side of the country, not finding much. After a while, he managed to find one that seemingly really peaked his interest. At that, he headed up towards Desperation Pass.

He managed to get there after hopping onto some trains, and finally a bus. While there, he managed to buy a room at a local bar, in which offered a room to sleep in. He asked the bartender if he'd ever heard of the white wolf legend, but was immediately shot down from asking more questions, but Buck seemingly ignored the bartender, and continued asking around town anyways. During his time there, he managed to find other werewolves, and followed one into the woods during the night. He wasn't too familiar on the tradition, but followed the three of them to get information about it. He asked the man who was left in the woods, and made a terrible first impression by knocking him out with the man's own flashlight. He saw a figure at the edge of the clearing afterwards, and dipped back to the room he was staying in. The day afterwards he managed to get drawn into the woods, where he met the same creature as the night before, and was pinned and hounded for information. Thankfully the creature did not hurt him, but left him with a warning to leave the town. (He didn't.)

During the full moon, he took himself out to the woods to be alone, since he'd only transformed a few times beforehand, since the moonblindness will not allow the effected individuals to fully transform until after they hit a year of being moonblind. He transformed, already incredibly stressed, and went into a full blown panic due to the transformation. He attacked Clay, who noticed he was in the woods as well, though to Buck, he wasn't aware that Clay was related to the wolf who attacked him, but Buck merely threw the first punch at him due to his stress. Clay and Beau attacked with the same force, which lead Buck to run away, with the two of them close at his heels. He managed to hit a small cave entrance shrouded by foliage, and backed close to it, effectively cornered by the two other wolves. The two others didn't want to hurt him, and simply wanted to know why he did such things he admitted to. He admitted that he did in fact knock Luka out, but he had no idea where he was after that. At that, Beau rammed into him, making Buck fall into the deep cavern below him. After that, No one knows if Buck is still alive or not, and some say he may still be wandering the dark caverns below the penninsula.

Trivia

The scar on his right eye is from his original encounter with werewolves that made him moonblind. It was an accident on the other parties side, but it damaged his right eye enough to where he's near blind, and he covers it with his hair.

Has a terrible diet due to becoming a drifter, he regularly eats whatever snacks people give him, or on the rare occassion, goes to a diner or bar in a town he stays at for a few days for a real meal. He tends to take public transport everywhere, and when unavailable, tends to hitchhike

Incredibly booksmart, but very impulsive. (impulsivity grew after he became moonblind.) He is very well read and has made an entire project in tracking down creatures within Virmen, and keeps many logs with notes. He originally wanted to go to one of the more prestigious colleges within the central city, but was bit before he could be accepted.

Very sensitive to light. He has to wear sunglasses outside nearly every day out of the year, especially in the summer and very snowy days. Due to the moonblindness, his eyes lightened and lost nearly all of their melanin, which caused them to be very sensitive (see: blue eyes rl). Due to this, he regularly gets headaches in harsh light, and outside.
